Molly Dingledine

For as long as I remember, I have always been making things. As a child I built structures with Legos, stitched miniature pillows for my mother’s bed, designed floor plans with my dad, and of course, threaded beads into pieces of jewelry.

Beginning in the fall of 2001, I attended the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). I studied various forms of art and design including photography, glass fusion, painting, book-binding, papermaking, sculpture, and metalsmithing. My interest in these other areas grew, while metals and jewelry remained my focus. Creating jewelry became a way to express personal ideas and themes through form and materials.  My work evolved from simply making “jewelry” to creating Art.

I currently reside in Asheville, North Carolina, where my admiration and fascination for the natural world, and my connection to it, are what inspire me to create.  Often I design new pieces of jewelry while taking hikes through the woods and studying the changing seasons. The organic forms in my work pay homage to our Earth and symbolize the growth and transformation that is part of life.
